Maximum Likelihood analysis of MSP4 gene of A. marginale sequences showing the phylogenetic relationship of the Anaplasma species. The phylogenetic relationship was inferred based on MSP4 gene (634–704 bp) from five (5) sequences of A. marginale strains, ten MSP4 reference gene sequences of A. marginale and two A. phagocytophilum MSP4 gene sequences. Toxoplasma gondii was used as an outgroup. The scale bar represents the number of substitutions per site. For each sequence, the accession numbers are given at beginning of each sequence label, the full species names are followed up by the country in parenthesis where they were obtained.
