The cytokine response induced in the spleen of BALB/c mice after immunization with various formulations. Mice (n = 3) received 2 immunizations at 3 weeks intervals and splenocytes were collected at day 21 after booster immunization. The cell supernatant was analyzed for influenza-induced IFN-γ, IL-2, IL-4 and IL-5 by radioimmunoassay after 48 h of stimulation. Data are shown as means ± SD. Asterisks indicate statistically significant differences (P < 0.05) between groups
