The expression of genes related to tight junction proteins in the colonic epithelium of goats in the LC, HC, and SH groups. The colonic epithelium of the goat fed the HC diet had a significant decline in the mRNA expression of claudin-1, claudin-4, occludin, and ZO-1 compared with that in the LC group, while no significant change between the SH and LC groups was observed. The results are expressed as fold changes relative to those in the LC group (mean ± SEM). * indicates P < 0.05 and **indicates P < 0.01 compared with the LC; # indicates P < 0.05 compared with the HC. A statistically significant difference has a P value < 0.05
