Clinical parameters (a, temperature; b-c, heart and respiratory rates; and d, total clinical score) in saline, choline, LPS and LPS + choline groups. Calves were injected i.v. once with saline (5 ml) or saline containing choline chloride (1 mg/kg). Five minutes after the first i.v. treatment, calves received endotoxin (LPS, 2 μg/kg) in 5 ml normal saline. Measurements were performed immediately before first i.v. treatment (0 h) and 1 – 48 h after saline, choline, LPS or LPS + choline treatments.
