Experimental design to study the viral dose effect in GI.1d/00–21-infected rabbits. Nine rabbits per cell (visualised in green or in red) were orally inoculated with a negligible infective dose (10− 1 gRNA copies/rabbit), a low infective dose (104 gRNA copies/rabbit) or a high infective dose (107 gRNA copies/rabbit), respectively, the tenth rabbit (visualised in light green or in pink) was not inoculated (in-contact rabbit).
