Transverse section of the spinal cord (S) at the level of the seventh cervical vertebra of the 8-week-old weaner. Histopathological examination showed a severe, focal extradural inflammation in the epidural tissue with adhesion to the dura (arrows). The inflammation infiltrated the epidural fat tissue (F) and was centrally compound of mainly degenerated neutrophilic granulocytes (asterisk) surrounded by numerous macrophages and fibrous tissue.
