Effect of LPS injection on body temperature, cortisol, TNFα and IL-6 plasma levels in 8-week-old pigs. Blood was collected in heparin-coated tubes from 8-week old HPAlo (empty squares, n = 16) and HPAhi (black squares, n = 15) pigs just before (t0) and 1, 4 and 24 h following the i.m. injection of LPS. At each time point, temperature was measured into the ear. Cortisol, TNFα and IL-6 levels were measured in plasma samples. Each point represents a single piglet. See Table 1 for statistical analysis
