Effect of pancreas region on islet yield. a The effect of processing only the tail and body of the pancreas were evaluated. No significant difference in islet yield was observed when the whole pancreas was processed versus only the tail and body. IEQ values were normalized to donor bodyweight (per kg) to account for the high variability of canine donor size. b Islet yield per gram of tissue digested was significantly improved by omitting the head of the pancreas from processing (* denotes significance, p = 0.04; N = 3 per animals/group)
