  1. Internalized viable bacteria were evaluated as no. of bacteria/BAEC after incubation of BAEC with bacteria for 2 h followed by exposure to polymyxin B and gentamicin (P&G) each at a final concentration of 50 μg/ml for 1 h prior to further incubation for 2 and 4 h in the presence of either 0, 10 or 50 μg/ml each of polymyxin B and gentamicin in the medium. Data represent the means (±SEM) of three independent assays with duplicate samples
