LC-MS/MS chromatogram of the ear rinse sample from a dog with PaOE (P. aeruginosa-associated OE), i.e., the representative chromatogram of a positive sample containing C4-HSL (N-butanoyl-L-homoserine lactone). The y-axis scale was normalized to the peak of 5.161 × 105 units. Chromatograms for other clinical samples appeared similar when regarding detection of individual AHLs, due to the presentation of analyte quantity in relative units and the characteristic analyte retention times.
