Evaluation of IRES-mediated translation activity. HEK293, MDCK, MDBK, and CPK cells were transfected with pCAGGS/FMDV-IRES. 24 h following transfection, Renilla luciferase and firefly luciferase units were measured using the Dual-Luciferase Reporter Assay System, and the ratio of IRES-mediated translation activity to that in HEK293 cells was evaluated. Experiments were performed in triplicates and error bars indicate S.D. Student’s t-tests were performed to calculate p values
