  1. M1 measurements obtained at the apex of the 3rd phalanx, M2 measurements obtained at the most concave portion of the 3rd phalanx, M3 measurements obtained at the level of the flexor tubercle, M4 is the dorsal wall thickness, M5 is the internal wall length from the proximal border of the wall to the tip of the wall corium, claw angle is the angle made by two straight lines one parallel to the dorsum of the 3rd phalanx and the other to the ground border of the sole. “a” segment is added to the internal wall length if the claws are trimmed to a step. “a” and “c” segments are added to the internal wall length if the claws are trimmed to a point (see Fig. 4).  LC lateral claw, MC medial claw
