Table 2 Scorecard for muscular tension

From: Comparison of three different sedative-anaesthetic protocols (ketamine, ketamine-medetomidine and alphaxalone) in common marmosets (Callithrix jacchus)

Score

Quality

Character

0

No muscle tension

Complete relaxation, adequate muscle relaxation for performing minor invasive procedures

1

Normal muscle tension

Partial relaxation

2

Increased muscle tension

Rigidity in muscles

  1. The muscular tension was assessed by resistance to flexion of limbs (leg muscle tension was evaluated by flexion and extension of the left rear leg) and by opening the jaws (jaw tension was evaluated by pulling the lower jaw open by an index finger).
